Today is our one year anniversary. It is so crazy how fast the past year has gone. I feel so blessed to have found Shawn. He really is my dream come true. I wanted to share a funny yet personal story that the five of you reading this may or may not know. I wouldn’t have meet Shawn if it wasn’t for a hot air ballon…let me explain. I was driving to Heber one afternoon and I was feeling kind of down on the dating scene. I was so sick of dating boys I knew I wouldn’t marry and I wanted to meet the one. I was praying in my head for help in finding my man. I looked out the window while driving through Park City and there was a huge hot air ballon with the words ldssingles.com. I laughed out loud. That’s crazy, I tried that once and found only crazies. I was not going to get on there again! Well I felt like it sort of was an answer so I thought what the heck Ill give it one more try. I got on and about a week later I found the craziest one of all and now he is my husband. Its funny how things work out. Shawn has his own side of the story which you’ll probably never hear because he has a two sentence limit while blogging. The point being that we were meant to find each other and the timing worked out perfectly. A shout out to hot air ballons and ldssingles for helping me find the love of my life.
Last week Shawn and I checked Colette and Kylie out of school to go skiing. Growing up my dad used to always check us out to go skiing and I loved it! It was fun to do the same for our girls. This was Colette’s first time. Kylie has been a couple of times when she was 4. They did great! They had absoulety no control and wanted to go straight down the hill. Being the mom I wanted to teach them to snow plow or at least to stop. They didn’t have the same idea as me. There words were, ” I want to go fast, thats what skiing is all about.” Who needs to learn to stop on ski’s anyways right…crazy mom I am. It was a fun day. Next season we are going to put them in some lessons so someone else can teach them to stop…not me.
One of the perks of having kids in school and being self employed. This is just West of our house and is not the prettiest place to cross-country ski, but wasn’t bad for a quick afternoon trek.
Justin (Shawn’s Brother) just got his first Mac computer. So of course we had to play with Photo Booth and take some funny pics. All the kids recorded a, soon to be hit, cover of Tomorrow (from the movie Annie). We hope you enjoy.
As a new family we are experiencing alot of “firsts.” Some are more pleasant then others. We had our first broken bone and first stay at Primary’s. Camille decided it would be cool to jump of an exercise ball. It probably would of been cool if she didn’t land on her elbow. She fractured her elbow in a way that would require surgery and a nights stay at the hospital.
Mom’s Hospital Stay: Finally got to sleep around 3am. Told Camille she had to stop talking at 3am and get some sleep, tossed and turned until the Doc came in at 6am. Watched Cinderella and Barbie Nutcracker while waiting and waiting and waiting some more. Wishing I could brush my teeth. Camille went into surgery at 11:00 and I waited some more. Wishing my husband could be with me and not in Vegas. Enjoying the time I have with Camille to bond and love each other.(even under the circumstances) Being grateful that I have just one night at Primary’s and that all my children are healthy. Admiring how tough and brave Camille was.
Camille’s Hospital Stay: Got to stay up until 3am. Got to have a PB and J, Jello, Sprite and cookies in bed in the middle of the night. Got a super cozy blankie to sleep with that night and got to take it home, along with Leo the Lion stuffed animal. Had the coolest bed that moved up and down and even had wheels. Thought it was so funny that mom got the small bed. Got to watch any movie she wanted. Got to talk and talk to Mom with no one interrupting. Had a nurse with the name Camille, super awesome. Had a straw in her arm so she didn’t have to drink any yucky medicine. Got to smell watermelon air and drifted of to sleep with her cozy blankets. Awoke to mom and grandma. Wanted a Root Beer Slushy…yummy! And to top it off a wagon ride to the car. Camille’s words, “This is the best hotel ever, can we please stay another night.”
It was a great stay but I told Camille this “Hotel” was very expensive and we should probably get home to her sisters.
